All of my watercolors are created outside; I draw on site with watercolor pencils. They are finished back in the studio where I work with water and brush to create broad forms. I use prepared paper for all my watercolor work: the paint settles and dries more slowly, creating a broad range of effects I cannot directly control. This painting was created in Westchester County, in a field near the Croton River. We had gone fishing, it was very early in the morning. The dew was still very present. This time of day is special for me. I soak in the quiet, the gathering energy that is present in everything as the sun comes up.
This original watercolor is 15"x12", with a 9.5" diameter image.
