This is a particular fishing spot my husband and I visit often. I am fond of it because there are several apple trees growing in a publicly accessible park. I have often gathered a bag of apples in mid-autumn and made fresh applesauce with them. This painting was made on a day we visited, an unusual visit in that the trees were bare. Whether they had not blossomed, or been properly pollinated, or whether someone else had cleaned the trees off before our visit, it left me with a mild disappointment. Making a painting was a way to recover a sense of wonder and connection with the place. Another day it will yield other surprises.
As with 95% of my watercolors, they are created on prepared paper from field studies. These are taken back to the studio and completed.
The original work is 14" x 11.75", image 9.75" diameter.
