We often think of spring as a time of moderate temperatures, when new growth takes ahold. Sometimes spring days can swelter. That was the weather on the day this painting was made. The ground had a lot of moisture, and became steamy as the sun heated everything. The weather is a personal memory for me; what the painting conveys is the lushness of this spot. Perhaps you can feel the heat. It's OK if you don't; the landscape has many other things to offer.

The original paintings was created on prepared paper, in a two step process. Information was drawn onsite with watercolor pencils, then worked on back at the studio. It is 18" x 21", 15" image diameter.
