Poetry is a vital part of my work. The title of this painting hails from a Seamus Heaney poem, A Meadow, from his book, Facing the River. In the poem, he describes finding a meadow and experiencing a luminous, trascendental transposing of time, which leaves him weeping. Light can do that to us; wipe our memories clean, or sharpen an experience held close for a long time. Light can fill us, and empty us. When we meet it in a field, its power is breathless

Oil paint with Venetian plaster, mica, and 23k gold on yupo. Framed with a whitewashed maple frame, there is no glass.
